Exposed aggregate concrete is beautiful, but when stones pop out, cracks form, or small spalls appear, repairs can be difficult to blend. Roadware MatchCrete™ Clear solves this problem by allowing you to embed matching stones directly into a clear, high‑performance polyurethane repair material. The result is a repair that visually blends with the surrounding surface.

Common Exposed Aggregate Problems

Loose or Missing Stones

Traffic, freeze–thaw cycles, and washing can loosen stones, leaving voids and bare cement paste.

Cracks and Spalls

Cracks and surface spalls collect water and grow over time. MatchCrete™ Clear bonds the repair and allows you to restore the decorative finish.

Materials Needed

• Roadware MatchCrete™ Clear (600 ml cartridge)
• Matching aggregate (same size and color as existing)
• Cartridge applicator gun
• Static mixer and optional needle tip
• Brushes or small tools for placing stones
• Vacuum or compressed air for cleaning
• Safety glasses and gloves
• Concrete sealer (optional)

How to Repair Cracks in Exposed Aggregate

1. Prepare the Area

1. Identify cracks, spalls, and loose stones.
2. Clean the surface thoroughly using a broom, vacuum, or compressed air.
3. Ensure the repair area is dry.

2. Prepare MatchCrete™ Clear

1. Load the cartridge into the applicator gun.
2. Attach the static mixer and needle tip if needed.
3. Dispense a small amount to ensure proper mixing.

3. Fill the Crack

1. Dispense MatchCrete™ Clear directly into the crack.
2. Work in small sections so you can place aggregate while the material is fluid.
3. For control joints, apply along the joint to seal and protect it.

4. Add Matching Aggregate

1. Place stones into the wet material.
2. Turn each stone so its exposed face matches the surrounding surface.
3. Ensure the repair is flush with the slab.

5. Repair Spalls and Loose Stones

1. Clean the spalled area and remove weak material.
2. Apply MatchCrete™ Clear to wet the base of the void.
3. Embed matching stones and orient them properly.
4. Glue individual loose stones back into place.

6. Allow to Cure

1. Let the repair cure according to product instructions.
2. Check that stones are bonded and the repair is level.

7. Seal the Surface (Optional)

1. Choose a sealer compatible with exposed aggregate.
2. Apply to the repaired area or the entire slab.
3. Inspect the final appearance.

Results
